Hi people. Just as we were sitting down for tea tonight, my Grandparents phoned. As some of you may be aware, my Aunt is expecting her fourth child. It hasn't been a smooth ride. She went for a scan today and it turns out that the baby isn't growing like it should, so the doctors say she may have to have it sooner rather than later, around 8 and a half weeks early. Mum's just gone round my Grandparents to just be with her as she'll be pretty shocked and upset. I myself went in to shock shortly after mum went and I came up here to tell my mates online. I'm just dreading the outcome of all this at the moment. I was going to post a topic about the baby when it arrived anyway, like Lizzie's doing with baby Hannah. Well, it could be here this time tomorrow or very soon afterwards anyway. Gran's in quite a state, so mum who used to be a midwife herself, was reassuring her that the pregnancy's quite far along anyway, the baby has a very good chance of survival and we just have to cross our fingers and hope, basically. That's the way things stand at the moment. I'll let you know when we have more news.

Jen.

Thanks Tracy. The doctors're having another look at Auntie Lou on Monday, so we should know if the baby's staying inside or coming in to the world then. Until Monday though, we're just going with the flow and we're ready for the phone to ring, any time of the day or night if something happens.

Huggles! The baby is far enough along that it should be just fine. They can survive at only 28 weeks so the baby is well beyond and should be ok if it has to come out. Hope everything goes fine! Hope you get to hold it soon. Smiles!
Lizzy

Actuley Lizzy, babys can servive fine at 24 weeks, though they have a high risk of problems like serebrel palzy and retardation, but most come out fine. Though in this kace like you sed at 32 weeks the baby will most likely be just fine. Smiles

Post 10 by bozmagic (The rottie's your best friend if you want him/her to be, lol.) on Friday, 16-Feb-2007 18:13:12

Sane here twin, but he/she'll certainly be an extremely tiny baby at 3 pounds 5 ounces if it's born next week. A low birthweight could be a sign of brain damage of some kind, but I cinserely hope that's not the case with my cousin. I'll keep everyone updated though if there's any further news.

Update. We're still going with the flow and everything's fine. ~We're dropping in on Lounand the girls with a "baby shower gift basket" later today. 9-year-old Tegen has next week all mapped out, with their trip to the Pictures to see Billy Elliott and shopping for the baby on Monday (providing her mum doesn't have her C section next week). 12-year-old Kezzie'd love any excuse to trawl the shops for big babycare items, and fashion accessories for her new brother or sister, and 14-year-old Joe, though bery close to his mum, has gone skiing with his dad, lollol. I'll keep all you Zoners updated though. I don't expect we'll have anymore news till Monday.
Jen.

Oops! I meant Lou. (my Aunt, that is).

Hi folks. There have been further developments. The hospital advised Lou to ring the ward if there was a change in the baby's movements IE. It slowed down or it stopped. Well, it's not moving around a lot now, so she just phoned the hospital and she's gone in to have the baby monitored. Mum's over her place with Kezzie, Tegen and Tegen's friend Isobel, so next time I see Lou, I might see my new cousin as well.

Hi jen, a bit sneezy and coldy myself, i hope everything and i mean everything goes well with the baby. i'm sure the hospital are taking care of lou and your cousin as much as they possibly can. hugs. i'm on msn or phone if you need me.

Post 16 by bozmagic (The rottie's your best friend if you want him/her to be, lol.) on Saturday, 17-Feb-2007 12:27:50

Thanks Kay. Lou's basically picked up all the kids, lergies an, chicken pocks and things and they've all made her lose her apetite and everything else to go with it, so the baby's probably suffered as well.

Post 17 by bozmagic (The rottie's your best friend if you want him/her to be, lol.) on Saturday, 17-Feb-2007 13:42:06

Well, I'm not sure what's going on with the baby, but Lou's just been discharged from hospital. I'll update you if anything's going to happen in the next few days.

Post 18 by bozmagic (The rottie's your best friend if you want him/her to be, lol.) on Saturday, 17-Feb-2007 14:42:25

The doctors think it was probably the steroid injections which made the baby sleepy, so it was a bit sluggish and it changed position so Lou couldn't feel it moving very much. I'll keep you posted.

Post 19 by bozmagic (The rottie's your best friend if you want him/her to be, lol.) on Wednesday, 21-Feb-2007 8:05:53

Well, it's Wednesday and everything's all right. It looks like the baby's staying put for now. Lou had another scan yesterday.

Post 20 by bozmagic (The rottie's your best friend if you want him/her to be, lol.) on Saturday, 24-Feb-2007 12:48:24

Baby's still OK and we think it's shifted position again as Lou's feeling it moving like before all the upheaval last week.

Hope all goes well with Baby. My little guy was born at 6 weeks early and he's 2 and doing great. Tell your Aunt to hang in there and hope all goes well.

Post 22 by bozmagic (The rottie's your best friend if you want him/her to be, lol.) on Wednesday, 07-Mar-2007 17:22:58

O, she's hanging in there all right. Only four more weeks and the baby's coming in to the world 2 weeks early, by C section.

Well, it's now early Wednesday morning. Haven't been able to post any updates in this topic recently because of fairly major ructions with our desktop which now has to be completely reboogted, blastecd thing, but we now have two EDDs for Lou's baby. The first, is in just 8 days time, March 29, and the second EDD is April 5, the day after I arrive back home from my assessment at RNC in Hereford.
Lou went for another check-up today and everything's fine with both her and the baby, so fingers crossed, she holds on till April 5.

Post 24 by bozmagic (The rottie's your best friend if you want him/her to be, lol.) on Monday, 26-Mar-2007 16:28:03

Hi folks. Rather worrying baby news on baby Oops's front. Lou (my Aunt) went for another check-up today, and the baby now has an irregular heartbeat. We knew yesterday that it was more than likely baby Oops would be delivered this Friday if not before, but now this heart problem's been detected, Lou now has to go back for another scan tomorrow to see if it's sorted itself out or if Lou'll have to have her C section almost straight away. Though they haven't got the combination pushchair or baby seat yet, more or less everything else is sorted. Lou now has Tegen's old bedroom more or less ready for the new occupant, with a pretty little collapsible crib and the baby basket of nappies, creams, wet wipes and bath stuff I got ready for the baby. It even has a couple of things to play with, a Lamaze musical inchworm/catapilla toy (from yours truly) an alphabet bag/play mat thing from mum, which I had enormous fun with sorting all the objects in to the correct pockets last night, and a tiny baby girafe with a jingly rattle in it's tummy from Gran, plus all her romper suits, vests, knitted cardigans and hats she's bought and knitted herself for the baby. Lou's contributions werre the crib and a pack of those baby vests. Even though this might seem like we're very unprepared, very late on in the pregnancy, all we need now is the pushchair and car seat.

OK folks. Probably one of my last updates on this topic befofre I introduce my new cousin to all you Zoners. The baby's almost definitely going to be born in the next three days, this Wednesday, this Thursday or this Friday, so next time I post on the Parenting board, hopefully, I'll be saying "baby ... is here.
